Film based on autobiography of Chris Kyle, the deadliest sniper in American military history, who was shot dead at a firing range in February
Steven Spielberg has confirmed that his next directorial assigment afterLincoln will be an adaptation of American Sniper, the autobiography of Navy Seal Chris Kyle, who was shot dead at a firing range earlier this year.
Kyle was hailed at the deadliest sniper in the US military history, with 160 confirmed kills during the Iraq war, before leaving the armed forces in 2009. He was killed in February 2013.
Spielberg has taken on the project after his robot-battle epic Robopocalypse was put on hold, reportedly due to Spielberg’s unhappiness with the script.
Cooper, meanwhile, is currently shooting David O Russell’s political-scam yarn American Hustle, and was forced to drop out of indie western Jane Got a Gun. He has also been cast opposite Emma Stone in an as yet untitled romcom directed by Cameron Crowe, which is currently in pre-production.
